Simbalion Art Studio: A Revolution in Exhibition Spaces

Imagination Unleashed in Tien Wun Li's Interactive Design

Simbalion Art Studio, a unique exhibition space designed by Tien Wun Li, breaks the conventional visiting method by creating an active experience beyond the imagination. The design integrates the company's own art supplies and space, incorporating cultural and creative elements into the product manufacture process, interactive installations, DIY experience classroom, gallery, and more.

The design's unique properties lie in its interactive nature. The exhibition gallery introduces the brand history, allowing the public to understand the continuation and innovation since the production of Simbalion Stationary. Interactive devices produce colored pens with a single click, giving visitors a preliminary understanding of the stationary production process. The design also features environmentally friendly and non-toxic emitted bubble balls that create a unique space atmosphere between the areas, and a space where visitors can splash the walls with paint, allowing the space to meet people's painting imaginations.

The realization of this design was made possible through the embodiment of Simbalion products in the space design. The characteristics of Simbalion stationary are harmoniously arranged in the space, with enormous three-dimensional acrylic dolls and Simbalion product watercolor cakes enabling visitors to draw in the space, breaking the conventional stationery that is only written on paper. A darkroom exhibition space was specially created for the Luminous Pen, creating the characteristics of a fantasy night sky.

The design also prioritizes safety, using fireproof metal with a higher degree of safety for the grille. The high-height ceiling of the first floor adopts a specially customized barrier vocabulary. The finely separated thin-film grids are shaped like paper dancing on the ceiling surface, echoing with the pure white exhibition area that can be painted in the exhibition hall. The overall space is like a fantasy paradise stacked with paper and stationery.

The design focuses on creating an interactive space. From the entrance on the first floor, visitors can produce their colored pen using a large interactive installation that is simple and easy to use. The dynamic circulation, different area atmospheres were created after the transition of each space, such as an unrestrained graffiti space, a luminous pen drawing area, and a 2D colorful exhibition space. People can experience different spatial atmospheres when entering each area. In addition, two DIY classrooms and exhibition art galleries are set up outside the exhibition area.

The design project was completed in July 2020 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. It was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. The award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
